Hebrew University Suspends Activities Amid Rising Tensions in Israel
Suspension of Academic Activities
Tel Aviv: In light of increasing tensions following joint military actions by Israel and the United States against Iran, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem has decided to halt all academic activities for a week. Approximately 170 to 180 Indian students, primarily engaged in research, are currently enrolled at the university. Many of these students have reported that they are safe and are taking refuge near protective shelters.
The university announced on Saturday that all examinations, assignments, and coursework planned for the week from March 1 to March 6 have been cancelled due to the ongoing security concerns. The institution is actively monitoring the situation and will keep the university community informed of any changes based on guidance from the Home Front Command.
Students in need of psychological support have been encouraged to reach out via a dedicated hotline at psyserv@mail.huji.ac.il, which operates from Sunday to Friday between 08:20 and 18:30. Additionally, they have been advised to adhere to the instructions provided by the Home Front Command. Sirens have been activated multiple times in Jerusalem, prompting residents to seek shelter.
