In her plea agreement, Wang acknowledged collaborating with her former fiancé, Yaoning "Mike" Sun, who also played a role in her campaign, to disseminate pro-Chinese propaganda via a platform named U.S. News Center. This website claimed to serve the local Chinese American audience. From 2020 to 2022, Wang and Sun operated under the guidance of the Chinese government, working with individuals in the U.S. to advance its agenda. They published pro-China articles on the site, including content provided through a WeChat thread, an encrypted messaging service, which Wang distributed to various contacts.

Prosecutors highlighted a revealing exchange from August 2021 between Wang and a Chinese official. The official requested modifications to an article, and after Wang made the necessary changes, the official responded with, "Great!" Wang replied, "Thank you, leader." Roman Rozhavsky, assistant director of the FBI's Counterintelligence and Espionage Division, made a strong statement following Wang's plea. He remarked, "By her own admission, Eileen Wang secretly served the interests of the Chinese government."
