The FIFA World Cup 2026 is implementing advanced counter-drone technology at all matches taking place in the United States, as stated by Andrew Giuliani, who leads the White House World Cup Task Force. This decision follows an alleged drone attack plot aimed at the UFC 250 event at the White House, with law enforcement identifying FIFA World Cup matches as potential targets.

Giuliani confirmed that all 78 matches in the U.S., along with fan festivals in each host city, will be safeguarded by these counter-drone systems throughout the tournament.

"Every match in the United States will have counter-drone mitigation protection, and each fan fest in every city will also be covered by these systems during the World Cup," Giuliani remarked.

USA's Impressive Start with a 4-1 Win Against Paraguay

The USA, in collaboration with Mexico and Canada, is hosting the FIFA World Cup from June 11 to July 19. The U.S. kicked off their campaign on June 12 with a resounding 4-1 victory over Paraguay, highlighted by exceptional performances from Folarin Balogun and Christian Pulisic.

The match began with the USA taking an early lead in the 7th minute, thanks to a brilliant pass from Pulisic to Weston McKennie, which resulted in an own goal by Damian Bobadilla. Balogun then extended the lead in the 31st minute, finishing a precise cross from Pulisic.
