FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 Schedule Unveiled
On Thursday, FIFA disclosed the match schedule for the upcoming FIFA Women's World Cup 2027, which will feature all 64 matches across eight cities in Brazil. This announcement took place at FIFA's headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, during the live draw for the preliminary phase of the Women's World Cup 2027 Play-Off Tournament.
Brazil, the host nation, will kick off their tournament at the renowned Estadio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro on June 24. Their second group match is set for June 29 at Arena Itaquera in São Paulo, followed by their final group-stage game at the Estadio Nacional in Brasilia on July 4. Each of the eight host cities will host a minimum of seven matches, including at least one knockout round match.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed excitement about the event, stating, "We can't wait to witness a new chapter of women's football history unfold when the world's best players, coaches, fans, and local communities take center stage in Brazil next year. I already have goosebumps thinking about the incredible passion, color, and energy that Brazilian fans will bring to the tournament as they welcome the world to eight vibrant Host Cities."
Knockout Stage Venues and Historic Final
The knockout stage will see matches held in Brasilia, Porto Alegre, Recife, and Salvador during the Round of 16. Belo Horizonte and Fortaleza will join Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo for the quarter-finals. São Paulo is set to host one semi-final and the Bronze Final, while the other semi-final and the championship match will take place at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro.
The Maracanã will become the third stadium in history to host both a FIFA World Cup final and a FIFA Women's World Cup final, joining the ranks of Rasunda Stadium in Solna, Sweden, and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, USA.
Additionally, FIFA Fan Festivals will be organized throughout the tournament, providing fans with opportunities to engage with the event across Brazil.
The 2027 tournament will consist of 64 matches across the eight host cities, with the schedule crafted to generate excitement through the group stage and knockout rounds, culminating in the final at the Maracanã.
