Airstrikes in Kfar Rumman

Kfar Rumman (Lebanon): Early on Monday, Israel's air force executed two airstrikes targeting a village in southern Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of at least nine individuals and injuring several others, including women and children, according to the Health Ministry of Lebanon.

These airstrikes occurred amidst rising tensions between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah, despite a ceasefire that had been in place for over two months. The attacks followed Israel's military announcement that it had gained 'operational control' over the strategically significant Ali Taher hill, which overlooks various villages and key routes leading to Nabatiyeh.

The Health Ministry reported that one of the strikes hit a residential building, claiming the lives of eight people, including a child and two women, while injuring 11 others, among them four children and two women.

Additionally, another strike targeted a vehicle in the village, resulting in the death of a paramedic affiliated with the Lebanese Islamic Risala Scout Association and injuring two others.

"We have been living in constant anxiety amid shelling on the outskirts," expressed Kfar Rumman resident Fouad Chakaron, standing before the wreckage of the building. "Now they struck the heart of the town."

Another local, Saleh Medlej, pointed to the destroyed structure, noting it was home to families with children. "Are there missiles here?" he questioned, referring to the building where families resided.

"I will not leave this place," Medlej declared, pledging to remain in his hometown despite the ongoing airstrikes and shelling.

Earlier on Monday, the Israeli military issued an evacuation notice for a residence in Deir al-Zahrani, shortly before a building was struck, though no casualties were reported.

On Sunday, Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of at least seven individuals in southern Lebanon and destroyed an unoccupied hospital.

A truce mediated by the US between Israel and Hezbollah has faced multiple violations, with Israel conducting airstrikes in Lebanon while Hezbollah has retaliated with drone attacks on Israeli forces.

In June, Lebanon and Israel signed a US-brokered framework agreement aimed at the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon in exchange for Hezbollah's disarmament; however, progress on this front has been minimal.

Hezbollah has stated it will not disarm in any area north of the Litani River in southern Lebanon, while Israeli officials have insisted that they will not withdraw until Hezbollah is disarmed throughout the nation.
