Escalating Tensions: Iran's Threats Following US-Israel Strikes
Rising Hostilities in the Middle East
Tehran: Recent military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran have heightened tensions in the Middle East, leading to retaliatory responses from Tehran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has issued a stern warning to both nations, indicating the potential use of "unforeseen weapons." Major General Ebrahim Jabari, a senior advisor within the IRGC, stated in an interview with Iranian state television that the missiles previously deployed in retaliation were merely “scrap missiles” and represent only a fraction of Iran's arsenal. He emphasized the capability to deploy “unforeseen weapons” against the US and Israel, as reported by various news outlets.
Iran's Arsenal of Deadly Missiles:
Khorramshahr-4 (Kheibar): This ballistic missile boasts a range of up to 2,000 km, sufficient to target Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and parts of Europe. Additionally, several US military installations in the Middle East fall within its striking distance, including Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and Naval Support Activity Bahrain, among others. The Khorramshahr-4 was publicly revealed on May 25, 2023, and is capable of carrying a 1,500 kg warhead, featuring a more advanced engine utilizing hypergolic fuel.
Sejjil Missile: This series of Iranian solid-fueled medium-range ballistic missiles can reach up to 4,000 km. The Sejil-1 variant has a striking range of approximately 2,400 km, while the Sejil-3 is reported to have a range nearing 4,000 km, though this remains unverified.
Emad: This medium-range ballistic missile can deliver a payload of 750 kg and has a range of up to 1,700 km. It features a newly designed reentry vehicle along with an advanced guidance and control system.
Shahab 3A: Part of a family of liquid-fueled ballistic missiles, the Shahab-3A has a range of about 1,300 km. However, reports indicate that production ceased in 2008. Other variants include Shahab 3B, 3C, and 3D.
Paveh: This cruise missile has a range of approximately 1,650 km and is part of the Soumar cruise missile family.
US-Israel Offensive Against Iran: Earlier today, the US and Israel executed a significant strike targeting various locations in Iran, including a compound associated with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran.
