Colombo: Authorities in Sri Lanka have apprehended eight individuals from India on charges of participating in unlawful online gambling, as reported by local police on Tuesday.
The individuals, whose ages range from 22 to 51, were taken into custody following a police operation conducted by the Thalangama police in Colombo's suburbs. This action was prompted by a tip-off regarding suspected illegal gambling activities occurring at a residence in Thalawathugoda.
During the operation, law enforcement officials confiscated computers and mobile devices. Investigations are currently ongoing.
