On Sunday, officials in Dubai confirmed they were addressing an incident close to Dubai International Airport, where a drone strike resulted in a fire. The Dubai Media Office released a statement indicating that "competent authorities are currently managing an incident in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport caused by a drone strike, which led to a fire." Emergency teams have initiated necessary actions "following the highest safety standards." Residents in various parts of Dubai reported hearing loud explosions, with some observing smoke and flames near the airport.

Locals shared with a news outlet that they heard blasts in the vicinity. One resident noted that smoke and fire seemed to be emanating from the airport complex.

Iran's Evacuation Warning

The reports emerged shortly after Iran issued a warning to civilians in parts of Dubai and Doha, advising residents in certain areas to evacuate. Iran's Media Operations Center stated that individuals living in specific districts should leave immediately due to potential targeting within hours. Iran's state-affiliated broadcaster Press TV reported that Tehran suspects US military personnel are sheltering in those regions, prompting the evacuation notice.

Press TV published maps highlighting three areas in Doha: the Ain Khaled neighbourhood on the outskirts, the Lusail development to the north, and the Al Waab district. Although specific neighbourhoods in Dubai were not named, areas were flagged in the warning. This alert followed comments from Iran's foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, who claimed Tehran had evidence that US bases in the Middle East were involved in attacks against Iran. Araghchi alleged that missiles aimed at Kharg Island, Iran's primary oil export hub, were launched from the UAE. Iran has accused the UAE of permitting its "ports, docks, and shelters" to be utilized by American forces for attacks, according to a report by Channel NewsAsia. However, Tehran has not publicly provided verifiable evidence to substantiate these claims.

Earlier on Sunday, Iranian authorities issued a separate warning urging people to evacuate areas near the busiest port in the Middle East and two other port facilities in the UAE. This marked the first instance since the conflict began where Tehran openly threatened infrastructure belonging to a neighboring country instead of directly targeting US assets. The conflict between Iran and the US-Israeli coalition has now entered its third week.
