Recent revelations have surfaced regarding Ndiaga Diagne, the individual responsible for the shooting in Austin. Diagne, a US citizen with roots in Senegal, reportedly resided in New York City from 2000 to 2008 before moving to Texas, where he had a record of multiple arrests. During a police investigation of his vehicle, authorities discovered a Quran and clothing identified as Islamic attire.


Incident Details


In the early hours of Sunday, around 2 AM, as patrons were leaving Buford's Backyard Beer Garden near the University of Texas-Austin, a large SUV was seen circling the area. The vehicle made several rounds before stopping in front of the bar. The driver then opened fire through the front window with a handgun, targeting individuals on the patio. After parking, he exited the vehicle and continued to shoot at people on the street.


Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis reported that officers arrived at the scene within a minute of the initial gunfire, confronting the shooter at an intersection on 6th Street. The gunman was shot by police during this encounter. Tragically, both the shooter and two victims lost their lives at the scene, while fourteen others were transported to local hospitals, with three in critical condition.
