Beijing: A vibrant display of Indian culture captivated attendees at a diplomatic gala in Shanghai, showcasing the nation's rich traditions in yoga, classical music, and dance.
India was one of four nations chosen to perform at the prestigious Consular Corps Cultural Charity Gala Dinner 2026 held on Friday.
The event gathered Consuls General and high-ranking diplomatic officials from over 70 nations, along with prominent business leaders and other esteemed guests, to celebrate cultural diversity and global camaraderie, as stated in a press release from the Indian Consulate.
The Indian segment featured yoga, recognized as India's timeless contribution to the world, alongside its dynamic classical music and dance forms.
A mesmerizing Kuchipudi dance performance received an enthusiastic reception from the audience, marking it as one of the evening's standout moments.
Pratik Mathur, the Consul General of India in Shanghai, participated in the gala and articulated India's enduring philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the World is One Family), underscoring the nation's dedication to promoting international collaboration, mutual understanding, and the aspirations of the Global South.
He emphasized the significance of cultural exchanges in enhancing interpersonal connections and fostering relationships between countries.
