Tragic Incident in Southern Colombia
In southern Colombia, a military transport aircraft has tragically crashed, resulting in flames engulfing its wreckage. The incident occurred near the Ecuador border, and there are fears of multiple casualties. The Colombian Air Force's Hercules C-130 went down on Monday morning while attempting to take off from an airfield close to Puerto Leguízamo, located in the Putumayo region. Local authorities estimate that at least 110 individuals were on board, although the exact number has yet to be confirmed. Defence Minister Pedro Arnulfo Sánchez stated that the aircraft was transporting troops but did not disclose further information regarding those involved. He mentioned, “Military units are already on-site; however, the precise number of victims and the cause of the crash remain undetermined.”
Videos shared online depict a significant fire at the crash site, with much of the aircraft appearing to be destroyed. Minister Sánchez expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families affected and urged against speculation until official details are released. He remarked, “This is a profoundly sorrowful event for our nation. May our prayers provide some comfort during this difficult time.”
