Cher Seeks Conservatorship for Son Elijah Blue Allman Amid Health Struggles
Cher's New Conservatorship Petition
Once again, Cher has initiated a conservatorship application for her son, Elijah Blue Allman, due to escalating mental health and addiction challenges following his recent arrests. As per court documents acquired by a news outlet, the iconic 79-year-old singer has filed a petition in the Los Angeles Superior Court, requesting a temporary conservator for her 49-year-old son’s estate. She describes him as 'gravely disabled' and incapable of managing his finances or safeguarding himself from danger. Cher has nominated professional fiduciary Jason Rubin for this role.
The filing indicates that Allman’s situation has 'significantly deteriorated' since her last attempt at conservatorship in December 2023, which she later retracted in September 2024 after reaching a private settlement. Currently, he is receiving treatment in a locked psychiatric facility in New Hampshire, aiming to regain competency to address charges that include felony burglary, criminal mischief, assault, trespassing, and breach of bail.
Cher claims her son lacks any understanding of money, stating that he spends his funds immediately—often on drugs, hotels, and transportation—while neglecting his financial responsibilities. Allegedly, he owes around $200,000 in unpaid taxes and previously had a debt of $18,000 to a drug dealer. Furthermore, he has reportedly disregarded court-ordered spousal support payments to his estranged wife, Marieangela King.
Who Is Elijah Blue Allman?
Elijah Blue Allman, aged 49, is the offspring of Cher and her former spouse, Gregg Allman. He has recently been embroiled in legal and health issues, including arrests in New Hampshire. Currently, he is hospitalized as authorities work to restore his competency for upcoming court proceedings.
Elijah Blue Allman’s Financial Situation
According to court filings, his main source of income is an annual trust distribution of $120,000 from his father, Gregg Allman. Cher asserts that he struggles to manage his finances, often spending money on drugs, hotels, and transportation, while accruing debts such as unpaid taxes and other financial obligations.
Elijah Blue Allman’s History of Struggles
The filings highlight severe mental health and addiction issues, with Cher alleging that he is 'gravely disabled.' She describes a troubling pattern of drug use, overdoses, erratic behavior, and property damage, including being expelled from various hotels. Notable incidents include being discovered unconscious in traffic and causing kitchen fires. His half-brother, Devon Allman, has also characterized him as a danger to himself and incapable of managing his life.
