Fire Breaks Out in Temecula Wine District
A brush fire ignited in Temecula on Sunday afternoon, originating from an open area along La Serena Way, close to Rancho California Road. The incident triggered a rapid response from emergency services in Riverside County. Social media posts depicted smoke billowing over the wine region, with the fire starting near popular spots like Callaway Vineyard and Winery, as well as the Sommers Bend neighborhood.
This area is frequently visited due to its picturesque views and seasonal events.
Firefighters reported the blaze around 2:30 PM in the 32700 block of Rancho California Road. Upon arrival, they discovered flames advancing through dry brush behind the vineyard. Initial assessments indicated that the fire had spread across five to seven acres, as per reports from CBS.
According to Watch Duty, the fire progressed at a moderate rate. Authorities later named the incident the Serena Fire. While the flames traversed open land, they did not pose an immediate threat to nearby structures or residences.
Multiple units from the Riverside County Fire Department responded promptly, working diligently to contain the fire and avert its spread towards residential zones and winery properties. Fortunately, officials confirmed that there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
