Authorities in Brooklyn are actively pursuing leads following a fatal shooting that occurred in broad daylight on Monday morning. The incident took place around 9:10 AM local time outside a residence on Wortman Avenue in the East New York area. According to the New York Police Department, the victim, a 40-year-old male, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and right leg. Emergency responders arrived after a 911 call and transported him to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was later declared dead. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed as officials await family notification. Investigators are currently unclear about the motive behind the shooting. They are on the lookout for a person of interest, described as a male wearing a ski mask, a blue hoodie, grey jeans, and colorful sneakers, who was seen fleeing the scene. As of now, no arrests have been made. Police statistics indicate a slight increase in shootings this year in the 75th Precinct, which encompasses East New York, compared to the same timeframe in 2025.
