Bangladesh's Litton Das Optimistic About T20 World Cup Readiness
Team's Resilience After Series Win
Bangladesh's captain, Litton Das, expressed his admiration for the team's resilience following their comeback after losing the first T20I in the series against Ireland. He shared insights regarding their aspirations for the upcoming T20 World Cup next year, as reported by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Almost Prepared for the T20 World Cup
After clinching the series 2-1, Litton stated that the squad, which includes several new players in various positions, is 'almost prepared' for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. He mentioned, "We have conducted numerous experiments," reflecting on the third T20I. "We made some bold decisions, such as not having Mustafizur Rahman bowl the final over today," he explained. "I wanted to assess how a player performs after missing two matches. I believe we have explored nearly every facet of our team, and this group is nearly ready for the World Cup."
Praise for Series Comeback and Team Improvements
After losing the first T20I by 39 runs, Bangladesh rebounded with victories in the subsequent matches in Chattogram, winning by four and eight wickets. Litton reflected on the team's ability to turn the situation around, stating, "We struggled under pressure in the initial game, but we managed to fight back and win the series. There are many positive indicators." He acknowledged the team's fielding issues but noted improvements, saying, "We are not the best fielding unit, yet we made some exceptional catches during this series. Our fielding has shown progress. After participating in the most T20Is in a year, our players have matured significantly."
Emphasis on Player Development
"The players and coaching staff deserve credit for our readiness since the Asia Cup. We have consistently utilized a select group of players since then," Litton remarked. He emphasized the importance of players performing well in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) to translate that success to the national team. "My concern is not about individual performances but rather injuries. We hope to stay injury-free in the upcoming months," he added.
