Bangladesh Announces Squad for Upcoming Test Against Pakistan

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has officially announced its 15-player squad for the first Test against Pakistan, set to begin on May 8. Led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, the team includes two uncapped players, Tanzid Hasan and Amite Hasan, while welcoming back Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam. Bangladesh Cricket Board Reveals Test Squad

On Sunday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) unveiled their 15-member team for the inaugural Test match against Pakistan, set to commence on May 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. This match is part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship cycle. Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the team, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz serving as the vice-captain.


Introducing New Talent

The squad features two players who have yet to earn their Test caps: Tanzid Hasan and Amite Hasan. Tanzid has made a name for himself in limited-overs cricket, participating in 34 ODIs and 45 T20Is, accumulating over 1900 runs. He aims to secure a position in the Test format as well. Meanwhile, Amite Hasan, a 24-year-old middle-order batsman, boasts an impressive First-Class average of 49 since his debut in 2019.


Returning Players

Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam are making their return to the Test squad after last playing in late 2024. Additionally, spinner Naeem Hasan is back in the red-ball setup. Currently, Bangladesh is positioned eighth in the World Test Championship standings and is eager to improve their ranking against Pakistan.
