This incident highlights the escalating militant violence in Balochistan, raising concerns about security in the region.

BLA's Suicide Attack on Coast Guard Camp

On July 3, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) announced it was behind a devastating suicide attack targeting a Pakistan Coast Guard facility located in the Panwan region of Jiwani, Gwadar. The separatist group reported that the assault resulted in the deaths of over 30 Pakistani security personnel, with many others injured, according to sources.

The attack, executed by the BLA's elite Majeed Brigade, involved a suicide bomber identified as Attaullah Baloch, also known as Ajmal. He drove an explosive-laden Mazda truck into the heavily fortified Coast Guard camp around 6:32 PM local time. A spokesperson for the BLA, Jeeyand Baloch, stated that the explosion completely demolished the colonial camp.

A video clip released by the BLA's media division, Hakkal, allegedly shows the truck entering the camp just before the blast. Following the initial explosion, a coordinated ground assault was launched by the BLA's Fateh Squad, which is recognized as the group's tactical unit. The BLA's statement indicated that the Fateh Squad quickly moved in to attack the damaged camp from multiple directions.

The spokesperson for the BLA warned that the casualty figures might rise as several security personnel were believed to be trapped under the rubble. He noted, "Given the critical condition of the injured and those trapped, an increase in enemy casualties is very likely." As of now, Pakistani officials have not responded to the BLA's claims. The region has seen a notable rise in militant activities in recent years, with a significant incident occurring in March 2025 when Baloch separatists hijacked a train, resulting in numerous fatalities.
