Guidelines for Ganesh Installation-

1. Choosing the Right Direction

When bringing Ganesha home, it is crucial to place the idol in the correct location. Install the idol facing the North direction, which is considered highly auspicious. Ensuring the correct placement is vital for the positive energy and blessings of Lord Ganesha.

2. Maintaining Cleanliness

Along with choosing the right direction, maintaining cleanliness is paramount. Place the idol in a clean and pure area. Before setting up the idol, purify the space with Ganga water to ensure it is sacred and suitable for worship.

3. Preparing Sattvic Food

Purity extends beyond the space to the food offered to Lord Ganesha. Prepare only sattvic (pure) food at home during the festival. Offer prasad to the deity three times a day. Modaks are especially dear to Ganesha, so make sure to include them in the offerings.

4. Ensuring the Idol is Intact

When purchasing or bringing home a Ganesh idol, ensure that it is not damaged or broken. Worshipping a broken idol is considered inauspicious and is to be avoided.

5. Selecting the Right Colors

Lord Ganesha is fond of bright colors. Dress the idol in red or mixed colors and offer red flowers during the worship. This practice is believed to please the deity and enhance the festival's vibrancy.

6. Timing for Worship

Lord Ganesha is believed to have been born at midday. Therefore, the mid-afternoon time is considered the most auspicious for performing the Ganesh Puja. Make sure to conduct the rituals during this time for maximum blessings.
