Dr. Shiv Darshan Malik from Haryana has pioneered a project that encourages the construction of eco-friendly homes using cow dung. He is producing cement, paint, and bricks from cow dung and inspiring others to follow suit. Malik has trained over 100 individuals in this innovative process.


A Journey from Teaching to Entrepreneurship

Coming from a farming background, Shiv Darshan was once a college lecturer. However, he left his teaching career a few years ago to focus on creating products from cow dung. Over the past five to six years, he has successfully generated an annual income of 50 to 60 lakh rupees. He has also established a training center in Bikaner, charging a fee of 21,000 rupees for his courses.


Inspiration from Abroad

His motivation for building eco-friendly homes stemmed from his travels to the USA and England, where he observed similar initiatives. Upon returning to India, he implemented these ideas.


Benefits of Cow Dung Homes

One of the notable advantages of homes made from cow dung is their ability to maintain a comfortable temperature, keeping them cool in summer and warm in winter. Shiv Darshan was the first to utilize this method, which gradually gained popularity among his neighbors.


Expanding Reach Across States

His business has gained traction in Haryana and has expanded to states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. Through the marketing of 5,000 tons of cement, along with sales of paint and bricks, he earns approximately 60 lakh rupees annually.


Eco-Friendly Cement Production

Shiv Darshan has also shared his formula for creating eco-friendly cement from cow dung, which includes gypsum, guar gum, clay, and lemon powder. This product is branded as 'Vedic Plaster'.
