Zakir Khan Shares His Journey from Indore to Delhi: Cultural Shock and Personal Growth
Zakir Khan's Candid Journey on Double Date
During a recent episode of Double Date hosted by Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi, comedian and actor Zakir Khan opened up about his transition from Indore to Delhi, highlighting the cultural differences he encountered. In a heartfelt discussion, Zakir reflected on the criticism he faced in the capital, particularly regarding his appearance, clothing, and background.
Recalling his move to Delhi, Zakir described experiencing a significant cultural shock, noting how people often judged him based on his looks and attire. He shared that, in his view, individuals in Delhi tended to dismiss him until he proved himself.
“Upon arriving in Delhi, I encountered a major cultural shock. The color of your skin and the style of your clothing matter greatly to them. Until you make a name for yourself, they often treat you as a joke. Their tone can be quite condescending, something I didn’t experience in Indore. They have this particular tone: ‘Tere ko toh koi nahi mila hoga’ (You probably wouldn’t have found anyone anyway),” Zakir explained.
His honest insights shed light on the early stages of his career, where he navigated a new environment while confronting the judgments that came with it. This journey from Indore to Delhi played a crucial role in his personal and professional development, allowing him to discover his voice and establish his identity.
The conversation took an intriguing turn when Angad Bedi revealed another lesser-known aspect of Zakir: his passion for cricket. While discussing his interests, Zakir shared why he tends to keep certain topics to himself.
“I rarely discuss music or cricketers. My grandfather advised me that when you’re overly passionate about something, it’s best to remain silent, as people may lose interest,” he remarked.
Neha Dhupia humorously probed Zakir about his feelings towards Delhi girls, to which he simply responded, “No.”
This episode promises a wealth of unfiltered and engaging conversations, featuring Zakir Khan and former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan as they delve into their lives, journeys, and experiences. From Zakir's transition from Indore to Delhi and the hurdles he faced, to discussions about cricket and personal passions, viewers can expect a revealing glimpse into the lives of both guests.
