Will Pawan Kalyan's Films Face a Ban in Telangana? Minister Issues Warning!

Tensions escalate as Telangana's Cinematography Minister warns that films featuring Andhra Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan will be banned unless he apologizes for his derogatory comments about the state. This warning comes amid a backdrop of political controversy, with Kalyan's remarks about the decline of coconut trees in the Konaseema region drawing ire from Telangana leaders. The situation raises questions about the intersection of politics and cinema in the region, as officials demand accountability from the Deputy Chief Minister. Will Kalyan respond to the pressure, or will his films face a complete ban in Telangana?

Tensions Rise Over Pawan Kalyan's Remarks

Hyderabad: The Cinematography Minister of Telangana, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, issued a stern warning on Tuesday regarding the release of films featuring Andhra Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan. He stated that Kalyan's movies would be barred from screening in Telangana unless he offers an apology for his recent derogatory comments about the state.

Reddy emphasized that Pawan Kalyan's films could only be shown for a limited time if he issues an unconditional apology. Otherwise, they would not be allowed to release in Telangana at all. "As the minister for cinematography, I am making this clear," he asserted.

The minister also made it clear that this situation does not involve megastar Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan's elder brother, whom he described as a dignified individual who avoids controversies.

He pointed out that Pawan Kalyan, being relatively new to politics, has been making increasingly controversial statements since taking on the role of Deputy Chief Minister.

The remarks in question came at a time when Telangana was celebrating its 12th anniversary, as Pawan Kalyan made comments deemed insulting.

Recently, Kalyan attributed the decline of coconut trees in the Konaseema region to an 'evil eye,' a statement that has sparked outrage among Telangana leaders.

During a visit to assess the damage to coconut trees caused by seawater, he suggested that the bifurcation of the state was to blame.

This has led to a backlash from Telangana officials, including Animal Husbandry Minister Vakati Srihari, who accused Kalyan of being unable to accept Telangana's significant progress.

Srihari criticized Kalyan for lacking maturity and suggested that his statements were politically motivated, demanding a retraction.

Congress MLA J. Anirudh Reddy also called for Kalyan to apologize, questioning why he remains in Hyderabad if he believes Telangana has cast an evil eye on the region.
