Wicked Sunny embarks on a new phase of his musical career with the release of Long Way From Home, the lead single from his inaugural EP, The Local Kid, distributed by Times Music. This track, featuring MC Square and Radhika Bhide, poignantly expresses the feelings associated with leaving home, pursuing dreams in an unfamiliar city, and grappling with the tension between one's origins and future aspirations. Renowned for his insightful lyrics and unique voice in the Indian hip-hop scene, the artist from Prayagraj, now based in Mumbai, delivers one of his most heartfelt songs to date with this release.
The Local Kid serves as a five-track narrative detailing the experiences of a small-town individual adjusting to life in a bustling metropolis, highlighting unnoticed victories, humorous attempts to cope with failures, and the lengthy periods of solitude in between. The EP begins with the nostalgia of Long Way From Home and progresses through tracks like Baawre, Big Drama, and Laal, concluding with Udta Teer. Each song presents its own universe, making the EP best enjoyed in its entirety.
Wicked Sunny expressed, "Long Way From Home is the most genuine piece I have ever penned. A part of me remains in a room in Prayagraj, feeling that Mumbai is a distant dream. This song is dedicated to that boy and every child who set out with more dreams than resources."
