Olivia Rodrigo's Love for London

Los Angeles: Olivia Rodrigo, the talented singer-songwriter, has expressed that she feels at her best when in London. The 23-year-old artist has revealed that a significant portion of her upcoming album, titled ‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love’, was crafted in the vibrant city.

Rodrigo has shared her admiration for London, stating that the city serves as a source of inspiration for her music, according to reports from a media outlet.

In a conversation with Dazed, she mentioned, “I’m the best version of myself when I’m there.”

She elaborated, “I wrote a lot of the album in London, and much of it was influenced by my experiences there. Perhaps it’s the frequent rain that makes you want to stay indoors with a guitar and create.”

Additionally, Olivia has noted that Manchester has also inspired her, being the birthplace of iconic bands like Oasis and The Smiths.

Reflecting on her time in Manchester, she remarked, “I spent some time there a few years back, and with all the rain, it’s no surprise that so many great bands emerge from Manchester.”

Initially, Rodrigo had intended to release her album earlier this year. However, she explained that she required “a little time and space and perspective” before unveiling the project.

She stated, “Creating albums is a lengthy process. I thought I would release the single in February and the album in June, but I wanted to ensure everything was perfect before the release. Sometimes, you just need that extra time to gain clarity.”

Recently, Olivia disclosed that ‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love’ is deeply rooted in her personal experiences and emotions.

On the Popcast podcast, she shared, “The album is mostly chronological, reflecting the order of events in my life, which is a first for me.”

She added, “I write songs to navigate my feelings, so each day at the piano or in the studio, I ask myself, ‘What do I need to express right now?’”

Olivia also mentioned that her initial vision for the album has transformed over time.
