A Legal Storm for 'Kala Hiran'
Kala Hiran: The Battle For Legacy is a gripping courtroom thriller inspired by a notorious poaching incident that has recently garnered significant attention. Shortly after its announcement, the film faced legal challenges when the team associated with the subject sent a notice to the filmmakers, demanding the cessation of all promotional activities and production. This notice cited potential violations of personal rights, emphasizing that the case is still active in court. Producer Amit Jani responded to the notice, labeling it as unintentional and has since dismissed it publicly. Here’s a closer look at the unfolding events.
36 Hours of Chaos: Threats and Messages
Amit Jani has opened up about the backlash he faced. In a viral video, he revealed that within just 36 hours of the film's announcement, he received over 1,000 messages filled with threats, abusive language, and warnings about his safety should he return to Mumbai. Jani traced the hostility back to the fanbase of the subject, particularly from areas like Dharavi, Dongri, and Jogeshwari.
The situation intensified when Jani received a message allegedly from a notorious group, threatening to “eliminate” his entire family. While he could not verify the message's authenticity, he suggested it was part of a larger intimidation tactic.
Previously, Jani had shared the formal legal notice on his Facebook, which was directed not at him but at the film's casting director, Akshay Pandey.
"Bring It On"
In a bold move, Jani displayed the notice on camera, looking directly into the lens as he tore it apart. “Everyone is asking me, media people, colleagues, friends, what is your response to the legal notice? What should I say?” he stated, elaborating on the threats he has been receiving. He concluded with a defiant message, saying, “I have given you your answer. Now we will address the situation. Bring whoever you want.”
The film aims to depict the courtroom drama surrounding the poaching case alongside the well-publicized rivalry between the subject and a prominent figure. The teaser is set to be released on June 20, 2026, as previously announced by Amit on his X post. Currently, the subject has not made any public statements regarding the ongoing situation.
