Chennai: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially granted a 'U/A' certificate to the highly anticipated Tamil-Telugu historical film Draupathi 2, directed by Mohan G.
Mohan G Kshatriyan took to social media to announce the news, expressing his excitement with a New Year message. He stated, "A story that has remained untold until now... A glimpse into the dark era of the 14th century in South Indian history. #Draupathi2 has been cleared for release and will hit theaters this month."
Last year, there were speculations about a potential release date of January 23, which had the industry buzzing with excitement.
Produced by Chola Chakravarthy under Netaji Productions in collaboration with G. M Film Corporation, Draupathi 2 has generated significant interest among audiences.
Set in the 14th century, the film explores the reign of Hoysala emperor Veera Vallalar III, highlighting the bravery of the Kadavarayas of Sendhamangalam and the upheaval caused by the Mughal invasion in Tamil Nadu.
In November, the filmmakers unveiled a captivating first look poster featuring actress Rakshana Induchoodan as Draupathi Devi, showcasing her dignified and commanding presence that reflects the character's cultural richness and strength.
Alongside Richard Rishi and Rakshana Induchoodan, actor and cinematographer Natti Natraj will play a significant role in the film.
The cast also includes notable actors such as Y. G. Mahendran, Nadodigal Barani, Saravana Subbiah, Vela Ramamoorthy, Siraj Johnny, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gaurang, Divi, Devayani Sharma, and Arunodayan, enhancing the film's historical depth and dramatic impact.
The film features a talented technical crew, with Telugu dialogues written by Samrat and music composed by Ghibran Vaibodha.
Cinematography is handled by Philip R. Sundar, while choreography is managed by Thanika Tony. Action sequences are choreographed by Action Santosh, and editing is done by Devaraj, with art direction by Kamalnathan.
