Chennai: The production team has officially announced the completion of filming for the much-anticipated action film Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and featuring the legendary Rajinikanth in the lead role.

Sun Pictures, the studio behind the film, took to social media to share the news, stating, "Alapparai Kelappurom, Thalaivaru Nerandharam! ⭐💥 It’s a wrap for #Jailer2 @rajinikanth @Nelsondilpkumar @anirudhofficial."

To celebrate this milestone, the team held a cake-cutting ceremony, sharing joyful moments from the event.

Earlier this month, Rajinikanth had mentioned that the film was nearing completion, confirming to reporters at the airport that Jailer 2 was in its final stages. He noted, "The film is in its finishing stage. The production house will announce its release date soon."

Fans are eagerly awaiting Jailer 2 for various reasons, particularly because it promises to deliver the same level of action and excitement as its predecessor, which was a massive success, grossing over 650 crores globally.

Jailer 1 received positive reviews and had a remarkable opening, with its overseas distributor, Ayngaran International, reporting a record-breaking 33 crores on its first day, marking the highest debut in Rajinikanth's illustrious career.

Insiders suggest that Jailer 2 has developed well, mirroring the successful elements of the first film.

Notably, Rajinikanth celebrated his 75th birthday on the set of Jailer 2 last year.

Filming for the sequel began in Chennai on March 10 of the previous year, as announced by Sun Pictures.

The excitement surrounding the film intensified after the release of a captivating teaser that combined humor and thrill.

Actress Ramya Krishnan also shared her experience on social media, reminiscing about her first day of shooting for Jailer 2 at Attapaadi in Kerala, marking 26 years since Padayappa.

In the film, she portrays Vijaya Pandian, the wife of Rajinikanth’s character, Muthuvel Pandian.

Additionally, actress Mirnaa, who plays Swetha Pandian, Rajinikanth’s daughter-in-law, is expected to have a significant role in the sequel. The film also features Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi.

Anirudh, who composed the music for the first film, is returning to score the sequel, further raising expectations.
