Exciting New Comedy Series Featuring Kristen Stewart and Alia Shawkat

Kristen Stewart and Alia Shawkat are teaming up for an upcoming comedy series titled "The Wrong Girls," which will be directed by Dylan Meyer. This series delves into the concept of mistaken identities and promises to take audiences on a thrilling and adventurous ride. Stewart, famed for her role in the "Twilight Saga," and Shawkat, known for her work in "Arrested Development," are set to showcase their distinctive skills in this intriguing project.

In a recent discussion with Entertainment Weekly, director Dylan Meyer provided insights into her debut feature, describing the lead characters, Frankie and Molly, as "codependent boneheads" who have spent a decade in a haze of marijuana smoke, enabling each other's poor choices while shirking adult responsibilities. Meyer noted that the series draws from her personal experiences and her close friendship with producing partner Maggie McLean.

Meyer further explained that "The Wrong Girls" serves as a "love letter to chaotic women" and the essential platonic relationships that uplift them. She hinted at whimsical story elements, including giant squids, Danish hitmen, and talking cats, while emphasizing that the emotional essence of the narrative is profoundly personal. Stewart, who also played a role in writing the series, recently made her directorial debut with "The Chronology of Water."

Stewart has shared her excitement about the project, labeling it a quirky stoner comedy. In a 2023 interview with Interview magazine, she mentioned, "Dylan and I are writing a movie. It's a stoner girl comedy, and it's really silly. I think you'll enjoy it." The couple, who have been together for seven years and tied the knot in April 2025, are eager to present their creative vision to the public.

The storyline of "The Wrong Girls" revolves around two directionless young women who, after taking an experimental drug, gain telepathic powers that extend to their cats. This unexpected ability thrusts them into a perilous situation involving a rival also seeking the same drugs. The series boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Seth Rogen, Geena Davis, LaKeith Stanfield, Kumail Nanjiani, Zack Fox, and Tony Hale, and is set to premiere on August 14, 2026.
