Dhurandhar Declared Tax-Free in Ladakh
Mumbai: The hit film Dhurandhar has recently been granted tax-free status in Ladakh. On Friday, Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta announced this significant news via his social media account, highlighting the film's contribution to the region's economy.
In his post, he stated, “Lt Governor Shri @KavinderGupta declares Bollywood film ‘Dhurandhar’ tax-free in UT #Ladakh. Shot extensively in the region, the film spotlights Ladakh’s cinematic landscapes, signalling strong support for filmmakers and reinforcing the UT’s push to emerge as a preferred destination for film shoots and tourism. The Administration is also working on a New Film Policy and will provide full support to film productions in Ladakh.”
Box Office Phenomenon
In addition to its tax-free status, Dhurandhar has captivated audiences and achieved remarkable box office success. The film narrates the story of an Indian spy who infiltrates criminal networks in Pakistan, portraying a dramatized account of the collaboration between the Pakistani underworld and the ISI, which leads to terrorist activities in India.
Since its release on December 5, 2025, the film has shown impressive consistency at the box office, surpassing the INR 600 crore mark in India within three weeks and maintaining strong earnings through the holiday season.
On the international front, it joined the INR 1,000 crore club globally in just three weeks, making it one of the few Indian films to achieve this feat. Its ongoing success, including a remarkable INR 100 crore in its fourth week and consistent daily earnings, has solidified its position among the highest-grossing Hindi films.
The film has become a significant commercial success, driven by positive word-of-mouth and sustained box office performance both domestically and internationally.
