What Led Gangster Anmol Bishnoi to Seek Surrender in Salman Khan Case?
Anmol Bishnoi's Legal Move
In Mumbai, gangster Anmol Bishnoi, currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail, has filed a petition with a special court, expressing his desire to surrender in connection with the 2024 shooting incident outside Salman Khan's residence. He claims this action is necessary for a fair trial and justice.
Anmol, who is the younger sibling of imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was sent back to India from the United States in November of the previous year and was subsequently detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
He is implicated in multiple high-profile cases, including the shooting incident that occurred outside Bollywood star Salman Khan's home, which is under investigation by the Mumbai police.
In his plea to the special MCOCA court, Anmol expressed his intention to voluntarily surrender to participate in the ongoing trial and judicial processes, emphasizing the importance of fairness and justice.
He mentioned that he is already under legal custody in another NIA case and cannot appear in court without a proper order. He stressed that his presence is crucial for the formal recording of his surrender and to facilitate remand proceedings, whether virtual or in-person.
Anmol requested the court to issue a production warrant to allow his appearance from Tihar Jail.
His plea argued that the prosecution would not be harmed by this move; rather, it would help expedite the trial and prevent any misuse of legal processes.
The application highlighted that the trial has commenced, with three witnesses already testifying in his absence.
The shooting incident on April 14, 2024, was allegedly carried out by individuals on motorcycles, later identified as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, outside Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartment in Bandra.
Currently, Gupta, Pal, Sonukumar Bishnoi, Mohammad Rafiq Choudhari, and Harpal Singh are in judicial custody, while one suspect, Anujkumar Thapan, tragically took his own life while in police custody.
Lawrence Bishnoi remains a wanted suspect in this case.
