Vignesh Shivan Discusses Challenges After Ajith Kumar Film Cancellation
Vignesh Shivan Reflects on His Experience with Ajith Kumar's Shelved Film
Director Vignesh Shivan recently shared insights into the tough times he faced after his film project with Ajith Kumar was canceled. Speaking at the LIK event, he candidly discussed the mockery and skepticism he encountered from both industry colleagues and online users, who doubted his capability to manage large-scale productions. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic about the upcoming release of Love Insurance Kompany (LIK).
Insights on the Cancelled Ajith Kumar Project
Vignesh Shivan elaborated on the film he was supposed to direct featuring Ajith Kumar, which ultimately did not materialize. He likened the situation to a wedding being abruptly called off, expressing that the feedback he received felt akin to questioning how a bride would proceed after such a cancellation. Many suggested he should pursue smaller projects, which he interpreted as a sign that they believed he was unprepared for bigger films.
Previously, Vignesh had mentioned that Ajith appreciated his work in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, especially the portrayal of a dark character by Parthiban, and had shown interest in collaborating. Their paths crossed again during Yennai Arindhaal, where Vignesh contributed as a lyricist for Gautham Menon. However, creative differences led to the project being handed over to director Magizh Thirumeni, which later became known as Vidaamuyarchi. Vignesh expressed that the cancellation of AK62 was a personal letdown, clarifying that Ajith was not at fault, as the production team was dissatisfied with the script's second half. He expressed relief that the project found a new home with director Magizh Thirumeni.
