Vaishnavi Sharma's Ambitious Start

Vaishnavi Sharma is eager to capitalize on her remarkable international debut and establish herself as a key player in India's white-ball cricket team. She made her first appearance against Sri Lanka in Vizag on Sunday, where her performance as a left-arm spinner was notable, contributing to the team's convincing eight-wicket win.

A Strong Debut Performance

Although Vaishnavi did not take any wickets during the match, she bowled four tight overs without allowing a single boundary against Sri Lanka's formidable batting lineup. Her composure was evident at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.

Overcoming Pre-Match Nerves

After the match, Vaishnavi shared her feelings with the media, revealing that she experienced some anxiety before the game, particularly during the national anthem. However, she quickly found her rhythm once the match began. "I am thrilled that I could execute my strategy. There are still four matches left in the series," she remarked.

Building on U-19 World Cup Success

Vaishnavi's senior international debut follows her outstanding performances at the ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup earlier this year, where she emerged as the leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets at an impressive average of 4.35.

Aiming for Consistency

Looking ahead, Vaishnavi is determined to pursue her dream of becoming a regular member of the national team. "We have put in a lot of effort for this. Our aspiration is to represent India and make a meaningful contribution. I can't predict the future, so I leave that to God," she concluded.
