Originating from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, Alakh Pandey established his YouTube channel, Physics Wallah, in 2016, initially focusing on the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE). By 2020, he and co-founder Prateek Maheshwari launched the Physics Wallah app, which expanded to include the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
