Contestants of Lock Upp 2 were taken aback by the surprise entry of Shilpa Shinde as a wildcard participant. Shivangi Joshi expressed her discontent following the arrival of the actress known for her role in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. While Shilpa was greeted warmly by her fellow inmates, she soon began to stir up drama by confronting several contestants, including Sunita Ahuja, Shreya Kalra, and Akanksha Chamola. Shilpa made a controversial remark suggesting that Akanksha's presence in the show was solely due to her connection with Gaurav Khanna, which did not sit well with Akanksha, prompting her to respond on air.

Since her arrival in Lock Upp – Sach Ya Sazaa, Shilpa has been vocal about her opinions on the personal and professional lives of her co-contestants. On her first day, she claimed that Akanksha Chamola was only in the competition because of her husband, Gaurav Khanna. Shilpa shared her thoughts with Madhuri Jain and Shreya Kalra, stating, “I mentioned that she is here because of her husband; I had never seen her before.” Sufi Motiwala later informed Akanksha about Shilpa's comments, but Akanksha maintained her composure, smiling at the situation.

The following morning, Akanksha acknowledged that she could only engage in conflict with Shilpa, expressing her belief that Shilpa harbors negative feelings towards her. For context, Akanksha has been in the spotlight recently after announcing her divorce from Gaurav Khanna, citing compatibility issues. Meanwhile, Shilpa attempted to provoke Sunita Ahuja, who retaliated by criticizing Shilpa's comments regarding Govinda, stating, “You will understand when it happens to you; stop talking nonsense.”

In addition to her divorce, Akanksha Chamola disclosed that she identified as bisexual prior to her marriage to Gaurav Khanna. Although she wished to keep this information private, Shreya Kalra inadvertently revealed it to protect herself from danger, leaving Akanksha feeling betrayed. She clarified that she had not confided in Kalra about her sexuality; rather, Kalra overheard it and used it against her. Akanksha and Gaurav tied the knot in 2016 in Kanpur after a period of dating, and Gaurav has yet to publicly comment on their divorce proceedings.
