Trisha Krishnan's Potential Role in Jayalalithaa Biopic

Renowned Tamil actress Trisha Krishnan is once again making headlines. Speculation is rife about her possible entry into Tamil Nadu politics, particularly regarding her involvement with Chief Minister Vijay's party, Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), for upcoming by-elections. Amidst these discussions, there are also talks of her joining a new biopic. Actor and producer JM Bashir has revealed that negotiations are underway for Trisha to portray the role of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. This film will be based on the life of the legendary actor and politician M.G. Ramachandran (MGR).

JM Bashir will not only play the lead role of MGR in the film but is also responsible for its production. The film has been titled 'Purachi Thalaivar MGR'. However, as of now, neither Trisha nor her team has officially confirmed any details regarding this project.

Discussions with Trisha and Producer's Optimism

Recently, during an interview, JM Bashir mentioned that discussions have begun with Trisha Krishnan about her potential involvement in the film. He noted that his daughter shares a good friendship with Trisha, and they are currently collaborating on another film.

According to Bashir, if Trisha agrees to take on the role of Jayalalithaa in this biopic, it would be a significant opportunity for the film. He also expressed confidence that there would be no obstacles in creating a film about MGR's life.

This role could prove to be pivotal in Trisha's career. She has previously expressed her desire to portray Jayalalithaa. In 2017, during a social media interaction with fans, she was asked which character she would like to play in a biopic, and she chose Jayalalithaa.

Interestingly, both Trisha and Jayalalithaa share a common background, having studied at the Church Park School in Chennai.

The Film Will Showcase MGR's Cinematic and Political Journey

JM Bashir stated that 'Purachi Thalaivar MGR' will explore both significant aspects of MGR's life: cinema and politics. The film will also feature key political figures from Tamil Nadu, including M. Karunanidhi and C.N. Annadurai.

Currently, casting for the film is underway, with plans to begin shooting in Ramapuram, Chennai. However, detailed information regarding the complete star cast and release date has yet to be disclosed.

Trisha's last film, 'Karuppu', was released in May 2026 and received positive feedback. Thus, the possibility of her portraying such an influential political figure as Jayalalithaa could mark a significant milestone in her acting career.

Praise for Chief Minister Vijay

During discussions about the film, JM Bashir praised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, highlighting his political journey. He mentioned that before joining TVK, Vijay was associated with AIADMK and DMK.

Bashir commended Vijay's leadership and governance, asserting that he possesses the capability to lead at a national level. He even suggested that Vijay could potentially become the Prime Minister in the future.

This statement has drawn attention amidst ongoing discussions about Trisha's possible political entry. However, there has been no official statement from Trisha regarding her candidacy or her role as Jayalalithaa.
