Renowned playback singer Suman Kalyanpur has sadly passed away at the age of 89. She took her last breath on May 31 at her home in Mumbai. Mangala Khadilkar, an author and close friend, shared that the beloved singer died peacefully around 8 PM. In her final days, Kalyanpur reportedly listened to her own music. A prominent figure in the Indian music scene during the 1960s and 1970s, she made significant contributions to the industry. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over her passing.

Modi also extended his condolences to Kalyanpur's family and fans. Notably, she was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2023 for her contributions to the arts. Born on January 28, 1937, she married businessman Ramanand Kalyanpur in 1958. Throughout her illustrious career, she collaborated with esteemed composers such as Madan Mohan Kohli, SD Burman, and Naushad, beginning her journey with All India Radio in 1952.

Suman Kalyanpur is survived by her daughter Charul Agny and granddaughter Aaishanni Agny, who has established an NGO in her grandmother's honor in Mumbai. May her soul rest in peace!
