The music world mourns the loss of the legendary Asha Bhosle, who passed away at the age of 92 on April 12 due to multiple organ failure at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news, stating that her cremation would take place today. Since early morning, numerous Bollywood stars, musicians, politicians, and sports figures have gathered at Casa Grande to pay their final respects to Asha Tai, including playback singer Meena Khadikar.

Meena Khadikar, Asha Bhosle's elder sister and the second eldest daughter of Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar, arrived in a wheelchair at her sister's residence in Mumbai to pay her respects. Alongside her, Asha Tai's younger sister, Usha Mangeshkar, was also present at the crematorium in Shivaji Park.
Meena Khadikar has recorded only a handful of songs in Hindi cinema but has made contributions to the Marathi film industry. She performed the song 'Duniya Mein Hum Aaye Jain' alongside her sisters Usha and the late Lata Mangeshkar. Additionally, she was the voice behind 'Phagun Aaya' from the album 'Pilpili Saheb' and authored the Hindi version of Lata Mangeshkar's biography. In a 2019 interview, she mentioned her plans to gift her sister a copy of the book along with a large birthday cake, highlighting the affection Amitabh Bachchan had for Lata.

Asha Bhosle's remains were taken to the Shivaji Park crematorium, where she was laid to rest with full state honors. Many celebrities, including Aamir Khan, Vicky Kaushal, and Ranveer Singh, came to pay their respects. Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, also attended the ceremony. Earlier in the day, notable figures such as Sachin Tendulkar, Vivek Oberoi, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tabu, and Asha Parekh visited her residence to express their condolences.
Throughout her illustrious eight-decade career, Asha Bhosle recorded over 12,000 songs and received a Grammy nomination. Her contributions to music will be cherished forever. May her soul rest in peace.
