Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Daveigh Chase began her acting journey at a young age, featuring in television shows and commercials before securing roles that would make her famous. One of her first major roles was in Richard Kelly's cult classic Donnie Darko, where she portrayed Samantha Darko, the protagonist's younger sister. Around the same time, she lent her voice to Chihiro Ogino in the English version of Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away.


Chase's most significant breakthrough came in 2002 when she voiced Lilo Pelekai in Disney's Lilo & Stitch. That same year, she left a lasting impression with her haunting performance as Samara Morgan in The Ring, which earned her the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain.



Despite her early success, Chase's career began to decline in the late 2010s. She reportedly distanced herself from acting following a series of legal troubles. In February 2017, she was arrested due to an outstanding warrant related to a traffic violation after leaving a critically injured man outside a hospital.
