Official Statement on Rahul Banerjee's Passing
The team behind the Bengali TV series Bhole Baba Par Karega has issued an official statement regarding the tragic death of actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee. They provided details about the incident and the circumstances following his rescue. The production team expressed their deep sorrow over the loss and clarified that after Banerjee was pulled from the water alive, they sought immediate medical assistance. Unfortunately, they revealed that no doctor was available at the nearby clinic where he was first taken.
Medical Assistance Lacking for Rahul Banerjee
In a detailed statement released on Wednesday, it was reported that the producers conveyed their profound grief over the untimely passing of their colleague and friend. Rahul Banerjee, who was 43 years old, tragically drowned while filming at Talsari beach in Odisha’s Baleswar district on March 29. The production team indicated that initial reports suggested he was rescued alive and was attempting to communicate at that time. He was first taken to a local clinic in Talsari, but alarmingly, there was no physician available to provide care. He was later moved to Digha State General Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The creators have requested patience as they need a few days to gather accounts from those who witnessed the incident in a fair and organized manner. They also stressed their commitment to transparency and announced that a comprehensive report would be prepared after reviewing all testimonies. Notably, the production team has invited a representative chosen by Banerjee’s family, friends, or the West Bengal Motion Picture Artists' Forum to take part in the investigation process to ensure fairness.
Director Visits Rahul Banerjee's Family
In light of media speculation, the producers have refuted claims that the actor was submerged for an extended period, calling such assertions 'most likely inaccurate.' They assured that all relevant documents, permissions, and communications with authorities would be made available as part of the investigation. The statement also mentioned that director Saibal Banerjee, who was in Mumbai during the incident, rushed to Kolkata as soon as he learned of the situation and visited the actor’s home that same evening.
Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident. The organization has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging inadequate safety measures on set and calling for strict actions, including the filing of a murder FIR against those responsible.
