Paul Avery, a distinguished actor celebrated for his role in the iconic soap opera "All My Children," has sadly passed away at the age of 81. The actor and his wife, Sheila, tragically lost their lives in a house fire at their home on Mohican Road earlier this week. Their daughter, Kyle Avery, confirmed the heartbreaking news through a social media post, expressing her sorrow and gratitude for the support from local emergency services.


In her emotional message, Kyle shared, "I’m devastated to announce that our parents, Paul and Sheila Garry Avery, passed away early this morning. Our love for them was immense, and they loved us just as deeply, leaving no doubt about it." She also thanked the Blairstown Fire Department for their prompt response, mentioning that details regarding memorial services would be shared soon.


As reported by WFMZ, the local community is in mourning for a man described as "the most interesting man in the world" by a colleague from Avery's local newspaper. The employee expressed shock at the news, reflecting on Avery's varied life, which included acting, skydiving, and serving as a Vietnam veteran, along with founding a newspaper.


The fire was reported to authorities around 12:38 AM, leading to a rapid response from the New Jersey State Police and the Blairstown Fire Department. Firefighters were able to rescue the couple from the flames, but unfortunately, both succumbed to their injuries after receiving medical attention. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with more information yet to be released.


Paul Avery was widely recognized for his portrayal of Hughie on "All My Children," where he became a beloved character due to his regular appearances. His impressive career also featured roles in significant productions, including the 1978 film "Superman," and television series such as "Three’s Company," "Soap," and "Tales from the Dark Side."
