The production team behind the Bengali television series Bhole Baba Par Karega has released an official statement regarding the unfortunate passing of actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee. They provided insights into the events that transpired following his rescue. The production house expressed their heartfelt condolences and explained that after Banerjee was retrieved from the water, they sought immediate medical help. Unfortunately, they noted that the local clinic was without a doctor at that time.
Circumstances Surrounding Banerjee's Rescue
No Medical Assistance Available?
In a detailed statement issued on Wednesday, the production team conveyed that the entire cast and crew are in deep sorrow over the loss of their colleague. Rahul Banerjee, aged 43, tragically drowned during filming at Talsari beach in Odisha’s Baleswar district on March 29. The production house indicated that initial reports suggest he was alive when rescued and was even trying to communicate. He was first taken to a local clinic in Talsari, but shockingly, there was no doctor available to provide care. Subsequently, he was transferred to Digha State General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Commitment to Transparency
The production team has requested patience as they gather accounts from witnesses in a fair and organized manner. They are dedicated to transparency and plan to compile a thorough report after reviewing all testimonies. Notably, they have invited a representative chosen by Banerjee’s family or the West Bengal Motion Picture Artists' Forum to participate in the inquiry process to ensure impartiality.
Director's Response and Safety Concerns
Director Visits Banerjee's Family
In response to media speculation, the producers denied claims that the actor was submerged for a prolonged period, labeling such reports as likely inaccurate. They assured that all pertinent documents, permissions, and communications with authorities would be made available for the investigation. Additionally, director Saibal Banerjee, who was in Mumbai during the incident, traveled to Kolkata immediately upon hearing the news and visited Banerjee’s home that same night. Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association has called for a thorough investigation, writing to the Prime Minister and alleging inadequate safety measures on set, demanding strict action, including the filing of murder charges against those responsible.
