CFI and Vedanta Unveil 'Tour de Thar' Cycling Event
In a groundbreaking initiative that merges endurance sports with social impact and sustainability, the Cycling Federation of India (CFI) has teamed up with Vedanta Limited to present the Tour de Thar. This event marks India's inaugural international-level desert endurance cycling competition, set to take place on November 23 in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
The launch event for Tour de Thar took place in New Delhi, attended by Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Organized by CFI, this event invites cyclists from both India and abroad to take part in this significant endurance challenge, as highlighted in a recent press release.
Cycling for a Cause: #CycleForZeroHunger
The Tour de Thar will also promote Vedanta's #CycleForZeroHunger initiative, which aims to provide nourishment to children at Nand Ghars, a key social impact project focused on modernizing anganwadis in rural areas of India. For every kilometer cycled during the event, Vedanta has committed to supplying Poshan Packs, which are nutritious supplements for the children at Nand Ghar.
A Unique Desert Endurance Challenge
This iconic cycling event will navigate through the stunning landscapes of the Thar Desert, featuring scenic routes along the Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway. Participants can expect an unparalleled experience that blends adventure with a meaningful cause.
Event Details and Categories
The race will commence from Norangdesar and conclude at Deshnok, near Bikaner, Rajasthan. It is anticipated to attract over 2,500 professional cyclists, adventure seekers, and community riders eager to challenge their endurance against the desert's winds and golden sands. The event will feature three competitive categories: 100 km, 200 km, and 300 km formats.
