Tom Holland's Surprising Revelation About Working with Christopher Nolan on 'The Odyssey'
Tom Holland Opens Up About His Experience on 'The Odyssey'
In a recent interview, Tom Holland shared his initial concerns about his performance while filming 'The Odyssey' under the direction of acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan. The movie, which is set to hit theaters on July 17, also stars notable actors such as Matt Damon, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Anne Hathaway, and Charlize Theron.
Holland expressed that it was his first experience working with IMAX cameras, which left him puzzled as to why Nolan would frequently cut his scenes every few minutes. He humorously recalled thinking he was failing on his first day of shooting, as the director seemed to be cutting his shots constantly due to the unique IMAX technology.
He recounted, "I thought I was totally messing up during my first day on set with the director, who had to cut every three minutes because of the IMAX technology... It was unlike anything I had ever encountered before, and I didn't realize it only ran for three minutes. I kept asking Jon (Bernthal), 'Why does he keep cutting? What’s going on?'"
Holland later learned from stunt coordinator George Cottle that the IMAX cameras had a three-minute limit, which clarified the frequent cuts.
The narrative of 'The Odyssey' follows the Greek King Odysseus, portrayed by Damon, as he embarks on a treacherous ten-year journey back home after the Trojan War. Throughout his adventure, he faces wrathful gods, mythical sea creatures, and enchanting sorceresses, all while striving to reunite with his wife, Penelope (Hathaway), and son, Telemachus (Holland).
This highly anticipated film is produced by Syncopy Inc. and will be distributed by Universal Pictures.
