While on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Holland addressed the viral incident regarding Haaland's lack of response to his dinner invite. He reflected on the experience as a valuable lesson in humility, stating, "That is exactly the type of humbling experience that is important for actors." He humorously recalled, "You think, 'I'll text him, I'll take him to dinner.' Not even a response." Holland noted that Haaland didn't provide any explanation for the silence, saying, "Not an excuse, not 'I'm busy tonight. I'm playing football'. Nada." He decided to reach out to the Manchester City striker after seeing him at the Monaco Grand Prix, saying, "I was at Monaco. I was watching Lewis [Hamilton] race, and I saw him. He was like a hospitality suite across from me, and I just thought I'd shoot my shot. [I] send him a text. I never imagined I'd talk about it on live television, but here we are." Despite the awkwardness, Holland had only positive things to say about Haaland, calling him "incredible" and an "absolute legend."

Why Erling Haaland Never Responded
The story gained traction after Haaland admitted he had ignored Holland's message because he didn't recognize the sender. On the Norwegian show A Laget, he confessed, "This is a bit embarrassing, to be completely honest. We were in Monaco at the Formula 1, and then I got a message." He explained that he doesn't watch many movies, which is why he didn't know who Holland was. Haaland recalled receiving a dinner invitation but chose not to reply since he didn't recognize the number. He later realized the message was from the Spider-Man star and acknowledged that he had completely forgotten about it. Haaland mentioned he would now have to reach out to Holland after discovering the sender's identity.
