Hulu has officially announced the revival of the legendary science fiction series The X-Files, with production currently in progress under the direction of filmmaker Ryan Coogler. This reboot, which has received a formal series order from the streaming service, will feature Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel in leading roles.

The new series represents a significant growth of the franchise initially created by Chris Carter. While it draws from the beloved 1990s series, it will focus on entirely new characters instead of revisiting the iconic roles of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, originally played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The storyline revolves around two distinguished yet contrasting FBI agents who form an unexpected alliance while working in a previously inactive division dedicated to investigating mysterious occurrences.

Creative Vision and Production Insights

Ryan Coogler, acclaimed for his work on Black Panther and the recent film Sinners, has written and directed the pilot episode, which Hulu greenlit back in February. Coogler is also taking on the role of executive producer for the series, collaborating with showrunner Jennifer Yale. This production is a joint venture between 20th Television and Proximity Media, the company co-founded by Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian.
