Read on to find out more about its box office journey.

Strong Performance of The Mummy in Indian Cinemas

Lee Cronin's horror flick, The Mummy, is making waves at the Indian box office, having garnered an additional Rs. 90 lakh on its 14th day, marking its second Thursday in theaters. This figure indicates a nearly 10% decrease from the previous Wednesday, while the drop from the same day last week is around 44%. The film's total earnings in India have now reached Rs. 29 crore after two weeks of release.

As The Mummy approaches its third weekend, fluctuations in its box office performance are expected. However, the upcoming release of The Devil Weds Prada 2 this weekend may hinder The Mummy's momentum. If it maintains its current trajectory, the film could wrap up its box office run with a total gross between Rs. 35 crore and Rs. 40 crore.

Notably, The Mummy has performed exceptionally well in Southern India, particularly in Tamil Nadu, where it has amassed around Rs. 10 crore, earning the title of Super Hit. This film marks the second Hollywood success in India following Project Hail Mary, with Michael anticipated to follow suit.

The box office breakdown for The Mummy in India is as follows: it opened with Rs. 2.00 crore on Friday, followed by Rs. 3.00 crore on Saturday and Rs. 4.00 crore on Sunday. The weekdays saw collections of Rs. 1.95 crore on Monday, Rs. 2.35 crore on Tuesday, Rs. 2.10 crore on Wednesday, and Rs. 1.60 crore on Thursday. In its second week, the film earned Rs. 1.70 crore on Friday, Rs. 2.95 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 3.05 crore on Sunday, totaling Rs. 29 crore so far.

The Mummy trilogy has historically performed well in India, with the 1999 film grossing approximately Rs. 20 crore, its 2001 sequel earning Rs. 27 crore, and the 2008 installment bringing in Rs. 48 crore. When adjusted for inflation, these figures exceed Rs. 200 crore today. Although this latest installment is not part of that franchise, its recognizable title has likely aided in its initial success.
