The Inspiring Journey of Remo and Lizelle D'Souza: From Struggles to Stardom
A Journey from Struggle to Success
Before achieving fame, Remo D'Souza and Lizelle D'Souza were just two aspiring individuals striving to carve out their niche in the industry. Remo, a background dancer, earned a mere ₹750 a day, while Lizelle, a model, earned significantly more. Recently, the couple shared their story of how they met, the challenges they faced, and the hurdles Remo encountered in building his career.
Facing Rejection Due to Skin Tone
In an interview with a media outlet, Remo candidly discussed the difficulties he faced while trying to establish himself in the industry. He recalled his early auditions for the film 'Rangeela' and mentioned, 'We had a group called Super Brats, consisting of five boys. When Ahmed got the film, the choreographer stated he didn't want Bollywood dancers but was looking for fresh talent. We all auditioned, and I was the last one standing. They selected a few and sent the rest, including me, home.' He further reflected, 'I had just arrived from Jamnagar, and my complexion was quite dark. I believe I was rejected because of my skin tone.'
From Background Dancer to Renowned Choreographer
Remo shared that he was earning well as an assistant but decided to take a significant risk. He explained, 'At that time, I was assisting Ahmed and making a good income—around ₹3,000 daily, which totals about ₹1.5 lakh a month. We were very busy, and Ahmed was at the peak of his career as a choreographer.' A pivotal moment in his life came after an unexpected meeting with filmmaker Anubhav Sinha. Today, Remo D'Souza stands as one of India's most celebrated choreographers, having worked with numerous Bollywood stars, including Salman Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Shraddha Kapoor.
When Lizelle Earned More Than Remo
Lizelle recounted their first meeting during the shooting of a film's songs. Remo was a dancer in Ahmed's team, while Lizelle worked as a model in music videos. Remo noted, 'I was a background dancer, and she was a model featured for the 'beauty shots' in the songs. We danced under the scorching sun for ₹750 a day, while she earned ₹4,500. They provided her with tents, fans, and separate meals. For outdoor shoots, we traveled by bus, while she flew in an airplane.'
