Thalapathy Vijay Discusses Delays in His Final Film Jana Nayagan Amidst Controversy
Vijay Addresses Film Release Delays
Thalapathy Vijay has shared insights regarding the postponement of his eagerly awaited film, Jana Nayagan. Initially set for a Pongal release, the film is still awaiting approval from the Central Board of Film Certification, creating uncertainty about its premiere. Vijay has suggested that the delays, along with the unfortunate stampede in Karur, are part of a larger scheme to undermine him.
Claims of a Conspiracy Surrounding the Film
During a recent election rally in Tirchy, Vijay expressed his belief that there are intentional efforts to hinder the film's release. He stated that various factions have come together against him and his film, linking these events to broader political opposition. He also connected the tragic stampede, which resulted in multiple fatalities at one of his rallies, to these efforts, asserting that both situations are designed to tarnish his reputation ahead of the elections.
Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, was originally planned for release on January 9 during the Pongal festivities. However, it is currently held up with the Central Board of Film Certification. Reports indicate that concerns regarding graphic violence and military references have led to the film being referred to a revising committee. There have also been requests for the film to undergo review by subject matter experts prior to certification, causing significant disruptions to its release timeline.
Overview of Jana Nayagan
The situation has taken a political dimension, with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin voicing his support for Vijay’s film and criticizing the certification process. A few weeks back, Vijay publicly acknowledged Stalin's backing. Simultaneously, he accused his adversaries of exploiting the delay for political gain, especially with elections on the horizon. In his campaign speeches, he emphasized his commitment to public service, stating that he left a comfortable film career to serve the community.
Jana Nayagan is particularly significant as it marks Vijay’s last film before he fully transitions into politics. Produced by KVN Productions, the film is reportedly facing potential losses exceeding Rs 100 crore due to the delays. It features notable actors such as Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Bobby Deol. The film is said to draw inspiration from the Telugu movie Bhagavanth Kesari. Director H. Vinoth has praised Vijay's filmmaking knowledge, noting his expertise in technical aspects like lighting and shot composition, and described him as a complete actor with a director's insight. Amid the ongoing delays, Vinoth expressed concerns about the lack of media support, indicating that discussing the film's political themes could complicate matters for him. He emphasized that Jana Nayagan is an original project, distinctly a Vijay-led film, and not a remake.
