Karuppu's Continued Success
The film Karuppu, featuring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, premiered on May 15 and has successfully maintained its presence in theaters on Day 12, despite a slight decline in earnings following a robust second weekend. Directed by RJ Balaji, this fantasy film garnered Rs 4.45 crore nett in India on its second Tuesday, reflecting a 24.6 percent drop from the previous day. Nevertheless, the movie continues to perform admirably, achieving numerous global milestones. With consistent support from both Tamil Nadu and international markets, Karuppu has surpassed several significant box office records, including the lifetime earnings of three films starring Thalapathy Vijay, solidifying its status as one of Suriya’s most successful projects.
Karuppu Box Office Collection Day 12: A Historic Achievement
Karuppu has made history by officially joining the Rs 300 crore club, accumulating over Rs 300 crore globally and more than Rs 130 crore from Tamil Nadu alone. This achievement places it among the top 10 highest-grossing Tamil films worldwide, surpassing Thalapathy Vijay’s films such as Master (Rs 250–260 crore globally, with around Rs 137 crore from Tamil Nadu), Mersal (Rs 252–260 crore globally), and Sarkar (Rs 248–252 crore globally).
Additionally, Karuppu is the first film in nine months to exceed the Rs 100 crore mark in Tamil Nadu, with the last film to achieve this being Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ensemble project Coolie, featuring Rajinikanth, which released in August of the previous year and ultimately collected Rs 285.01 crore nett in India and Rs 518 crore worldwide.

On its 12th day, Karuppu was showcased in 4,470 shows, maintaining a strong theatrical presence despite the typical weekday slowdown. The Tamil version was the primary contributor to the film’s box office success, bringing in Rs 3.65 crore nett from 3,073 shows with a 25 percent occupancy rate. The Telugu version, Veerabhadrudu, contributed Rs 80 lakh nett from 1,397 shows, achieving an occupancy of 18 percent.
Despite the slight decrease in daily earnings, Karuppu continues to reach significant global milestones. On Day 12, the film added Rs 4.45 crore nett from India and Rs 1 crore from international markets, bringing its worldwide total to Rs 253.26 crore. The overseas gross now stands at Rs 69 crore, while the gross collection in India has reached Rs 184.26 crore. Tamil Nadu remained the largest contributor on Day 12, with a gross of Rs 3.70 crore. Karuppu is a fantasy action film where Suriya portrays Saravanan, a lawyer believed to be the human incarnation of the deity Karuppusamy, and the narrative follows a father-daughter duo struggling within a corrupt legal system.
