After a successful 15-day run, Karuppu has entered its third weekend with a significant increase in audience turnout, reversing the previous weekday decline. On Day 16, the film earned Rs 5.15 crore nett in India, marking a 58.5 percent rise from the previous day's Rs 3.25 crore. RJ Balaji Discusses Karuppu's Journey
In a recent interview, director RJ Balaji revealed that Karuppu was initially intended to be Thalapathy Vijay’s last film before his political career. Although the project ultimately went to Suriya, Balaji noted that discussions with Vijay helped refine the script. He mentioned that Vijay expressed interest in the story during their early talks and requested time to consider his involvement. However, due to his political commitments, Vijay eventually opted out of the film. Balaji expressed respect for Vijay’s decision and appreciated the time he dedicated to the script discussions.
