Sunil Pal Clarifies His Stance on Comedy Show Banter

Comedian Sunil Pal has addressed the playful exchange with Suresh Raina on 'The Great Indian Kapil Show', stating that he did not perceive it as an insult. According to him, such humor is commonplace in comedy shows.

Sunil has previously shared his thoughts on the evolving trends in stand-up comedy, particularly criticizing the vulgar language often employed by younger comedians. He had also expressed strong disapproval of Suresh Raina's show, 'India’s Got Latent', which was removed following a controversy involving Ranveer Allahbadia.

Recently, Kapil Sharma created an engaging moment by bringing Sunil and Suresh together on his show. In the promo, Suresh was seen making light-hearted jabs at Sunil regarding his appearance and style, which elicited laughter from judges Navjot Singh Sidhu and Archana Puran Singh, although some viewers on social media felt it crossed the line.

Nonetheless, Sunil Pal emphasized that such interactions are part of the show's format. He remarked, 'It's common in comedy to tease one another. I threw a punchline at him, and he did the same.' He added that his reaction might have differed had it been a serious platform.

Sunil also clarified that there is no personal conflict between him and Suresh Raina, noting that it is merely a difference in perspective, especially regarding the content produced by Gen Z comedians. He stated that despite having good platforms and resources, there is no need to resort to vulgarity in comedy.

He urged young comedians to focus on clean and thoughtful comedy. Reflecting on his own era, he mentioned that despite limited opportunities, his generation managed to create family-friendly comedy.

It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Sunil Pal has criticized Suresh Raina. However, both have collaborated on an advertisement in 2026, humorously addressing their differences.
